South Pender Island Local Trust Area is located 15km north-east of the Swartz Bay ferry terminal, has a 2016 census population of 235 and covers an area of 913 hectacres.

Update: First Meeting Of The Year 

The South Pender Island Local Trust Committee held its first regular meeting of the term on Friday, February 1st. The LTC had a light agenda for its inaugural meeting; at the meeting,     the LTC: considered bylaws referred for comment from the North Pender and Mayne Island local trust committees, discussed potential projects for the term, received a tool kit on Protection of the Coastal Douglas-fir Ecosystem, and received a report on the Cannabis Retail application process and adopted a policy in the event of receiving such a referral.  The next regular meeting is scheduled for April 5th.

Housing needs assessments are the first step a community can take to understand the gap(s) between the housing needs of its people and the availability of suitable housing to meet that need. The Southern Region Housing Needs Assessment is available here.

South Pender Island Community Heritage Register

At its June 12, 2018 meeting, the Local Trust Committee (LTC) established a new Community Heritage Register for South Pender Island.  At that meeting, the LTC made the first entry to the new register: the Church of the Good Shepherd at 8978 Gowlland Point Road.  Click here to learn more about the project and to read the Statement of Significance for the Church of the Good Shepherd.

South Pender Local Trust Committee Projects

Local trust committees set their priorities and manage their community planning projects using a work program. Top priority projects on the LTC's work program have resources in place, or resources which will be soon available.
