Snuneymuxw First Nation
Islands Trust has received a referral response from the Ministry of Forests, Lands, and Natural Resource Operations, regarding a proposed shellfish aquaculture operation at False Narrows, between Mudge and Link Islands.
Potlatch Properties, Gabriola Island
The applicant is proposing to transfer and donate 155.3 hectares (383.74 acres) of land for parks in exchange for the creation of 25 residential lots at a different location on the island with those lots having an average lot area of 1.9 hectares (4.69 acres). The subdivision process required to create the lots would result in a road dedication which would connect Church Street and Spruce Road and add park and trail connections on the ‘receiver lands’ between Cox Community Park and the village core area.
Brousseau, Silva Bay Marina and Resort
Islands Trust has received a building permit referral from the Regional District of Nanaimo regarding proposed reconstruction of a building overhanging the natural boundary of the sea at the Silva Bay Marina.
Degnen Bay Group Moorage, Gabriola Island
The applicant is proposing to rezone a 0.5 hectare water lot in Degnen Bay in order to legalize the current group moorage use of the marine lease area as a commercial marina for up to 23 berths. This application is a result of Islands Trust Bylaw Enforcement as well as the provincial Ministry of Forests, Lands, Natural Resource Operations and Rural Development (FLNRORD) Enforcement and Compliance review. As a result of recent Bylaw Enforcement action, the applicant has submitted a rezoning application to request an amendment to the LUB to allow for site-specific zoning provisions.
