The Rural Watershed Uses project focuses on potential changes to the regulation of agriculture in the Rural Watershed 1 and 2 zones on Salt Spring Island. The objective of the project is to limit potential negative impacts on drinking water quality from farming.
Staff provided a series of maps to the LTC based on data from the B.C. Ministry of Agriculture’s Draft Salt Spring Island Agriculture Land Use Inventory. The LTC discussed the implications of this information on its Agriculture in Rural Watersheds Project. The LTC also discussed potential Official Community Plan amendments. Staff anticipate returning Bylaw 487 and 496 for consideration of second reading at the December 21, 2017 LTC meeting.
