The Islands Trust is thrilled to be receiving $190,000 from the Real Estate Foundation of BC as part of the province’s Healthy Watersheds Initiative to support development of a freshwater sustainability strategy for the Islands Trust Area.
Currently, we are undertaking analysis of current knowledge and programs, scientific and policy gaps, challenges, and future opportunities. The funding also covers a number of implementation projects including Indigenous youth engagement, watershed restoration on Salt Spring island, and Hornby and Lasqueti Islands watershed stewardship.
We are grateful for the support and excited about developing a freshwater sustainability strategy that will help us preserve and protect the islands in the context of climate change and reconciliation.
