Island Profile

The Gambier Island Local Trust Area encompasses over 30 islands, with 42% of its land covered by mature forests, where trees range from 80 to 250 years old. This ecologically significant area serves as a habitat for three threatened species: the Double-Crested Cormorant, Steller Sea Lion, and Red-Legged Frog. Additionally, it provides critical habitat for the Marbled Murrelet.
