Island Profile

Thetis Island Local Trust Area has over 20 associated islands, several parks, and a number of other protected areas including Fairyslipper Forest Nature Reserve and Moore Hill Nature Reserve. Several islets are protected as Ecological Reserves to safeguard nesting seabirds. This area provides habitat for the fast flying Peregrine Falcons, which can clock up to 112 kilometres an hour in pursuit of prey.
