The area includes over 20 other islands such as Mudge, DeCourcy, Entrance and the Flat Top Islands. Gabriola's beautiful and vibrant islands are home to some of the rarest ecosystems in British Columbia. October 16, 2018 | Gabriola Island’s 707 Community Park is Growing
The Regional District of Nanaimo and the Islands Trust have issued a joint press release announcing the amendment of the Gabriola Island OCP and LUB allowing the transfer of 136 hectares of parkland adjacent to the 707 Community Park to the Regional District of Nanaimo (RDN). With this transfer, the 707 Community Park on Gabriola Island will increase from 707 acres to 1,043 acres, providing increased ecological protection to Coats Marsh and important trail connections for the island. June 2018 | Secondary Suites Bylaw
On June 14, 2018, the Gabriola Island Local Trust Committee adopted Bylaws 292 (OCP) and 293 (LUB) after two years community consultation on Phase 1 of the Housing Options Review Project. More information about this project is available here.
