April 2019 | Gabriola Island Advisory Planning Commission Meeting
The Gabriola Island Advisory Planning Commission will be holding a meeting on Monday, April 8, 2019 at 8:00am at the Islands Trust Office, 700 North Road, Gabriola Island, BC. The APC will discuss housing options and impacts. Members of the public are welcome to observe.
March 2019 | Volunteer Opportunity: Housing Advisory Planning Commission
The Gabriola Island Local Trust Committee is seeking volunteers to sit on a new Housing Advisory Planning Commission (HAPC). The HAPC will provide advice and recommendations on policy and regulations to address housing needs on Gabriola Island. The deadline for expressions of interest is March 22, 2019. February 2019 | Public Hearing at next Gabriola Island LTC meeting - February 28, 2019
A public hearing will be held at 10:45am during the next Gabriola Island Local Trust Committee meeting to hear your views regarding Proposed Bylaw No. 301 which seeks to amend the Gabriola Island Official Community Plan with an updated map of the Gabriola Island Cycle Route Plan to include the anticipated Church Street and Spruce Road connection. The Gabriola Island Local Trust Committee gave consideration to this application to transfer the densities of three properties which lie between Coats Marsh Regional Park and the 707 Community Park to an area near the Island’s Village core in exchange for the donation of the donor properties to the 707 Community Park. Recently adopted Bylaws 274 and 275 amend the Agricultural Land Use Bylaw and Official Community Plan policies to improve famland protection and increase food security.

September, 2014 | Local Trust Committee adopts two bylaws: fee reduction for riparian areas development permit and Mudge Island development approval information.
At their September 4, 2014 meeting, the Local Trust Committee took the last step in a process to reduce the fee in development permit area 3, Riparian Areas and adopted Bylaw No. 245 that makes this change. They also adopted Bylaw No. 227 that designates circumstances in which development approval information can be required for development proposals on Mudge Island.

The Local Trust Committee gave 1st, 2nd and 3rd readings to a bylaw to reduce the fee of a permit in proposed Development Permit Area 3 - Riparian Areas from $450 to $200.
