February 8, 2021, the Thetis Island LTC Chair wrote to Minister of Citizen Services Lisa Bearee, Strathcona Regional District Chief Administrative Officer David Leitch, Cowichan Valley Regional District Manager of Economic Development Barry O’Riordan, and Thetis Island Community Economic Enhancement Corporation regarding efforts to attract funding to provide internet connectivity to all homes on Thetis Island.

Thank you to all who provided feedback on Islands Trust Council’s 2021-22 budget proposal. Trust Council received all public feedback in the March 2021 Trust Council package prior to debating and approving the budget. Your input was heard and considered carefully when we made final decisions on the budget that will guide the coming year’s work.
This year, Islands Trust is grateful to have received a record $563,000 in grants in support of Islands Trust Conservancy’s work and the Regional Freshwater Sustainability project.
The approved operating and projects budget for 2021/22 is $9,059,919.

A new staff report for the Thetis Island Riparian Areas Protection Regulation (RAPR) Implementation project was presented at the April 13th Thetis Island Local Trust Committee business meeting.
Proposed amendments to the Thetis Island Official Community Plan (OCP) and Land Use Bylaw (LUB) based on feedback heard at the February 2nd Public Hearing are included in the report.
