The Hornby Island Community Heritage Register (the Register) is an official list of historic places which have been identified by the Hornby Island Local Trust Committee, with the generous and extensive assistance of the Hornby Island Residents and Ratepayers Association (HIRRA), as having heritage value. The main function of the Register is to recognize and celebrate historically significant places within the community and within the Hornby Island Local Trust Area.
A heritage register can be an important tool, providing support and eligibility for access to heritage conservation tools and incentives at the regional and provincial level, such as funding sources like the Heritage Legacy Fund of BC. Read the Hornby Island Heritage Register.
