Island Profile

The Mayne Island Local Trust Area is home to several at-risk species, including the Killer Whale, Purple Martin, Peregrine Falcon, and a unique Glass Sponge Reef. Each spring, the Purple Martin returns after a long migration from southeastern Brazil. Notably, it is the largest species of swallow in North America.
