November 2013 | Project Charters Reviewed

The LTC's three main projects: Community Amenity Density Review; Secondary Suite Review; and Short Term Vacation Rental Review have reviewed project charters. Draft bylaws for these projects will be prepared by staff and presented at the February 13, 2014 business meeting.  Read more >>   

Other matters reviewed and decided on by the LTC were the following: Islands Trust strategic plan supported with minor amendments; a Development Permit issued for a 2 lot subdivision; 10% road frontage waivers granted for two subdivisions; an application for subdivision within the ALR supported by the LTC and forwarded to the Agricultural Land Commission for consideration.

The LTC met to discuss work program priorities for the remainder of the term. The following priorities were placed on the LTCs work program as its top three priorities: 1) Review of the Community Amenity Density Reserve; 2) Short Term Vacation Rental Review; and 3) Secondary Suite Review. The LTC also supported a budget request for projects for the 2014-2015 fiscal year to support the costs associated with completing work program priorities. A stewardship award was given to Richard Blagbourne for the renovation of the fog horn building. The next meeting of the LTC is on November 14, 2013.

The Saturna Island Local Trust Committee has scheduled a Community Information Meeting on August 17th for the public to have an opportunity to provide comment to the LTC on its proposed work program.  

July 2013 | Work Program Questionnaire

The Saturna Island Local Trust Committee has canvased Saturna Island residents and property owners in order to obtain community input on its work program priorities. Part of this consultation included a community questionnaire.  Thank you to the residents and property owners who made their views known by completing and submitting the questionnaire.  The results of the questionnaire can be now be viewed.  Read here >>

June 2013 | Local Trust Committee adopts a timeline and process for Top Priority Projects
