About Lee Middleton

Lee has been a resident of the Southern Gulf Islands for 22 years and believes the blend of free ecology, free politics and free ideas makes this one of the most satisfying places to live and grow in. This will be Lee’s third term as an Island Trustee on Saturna. He recognizes that the quality of life we have on these islands needs tending, including the way we make land use and community decisions – we need to build on the free thinking and innovation of the people that make these islands home to make the healthiest lands and communities possible – which means engaging fully with the Islands Trust. Lee is strongly committed to modernizing and strengthening the Governance of the Islands Trust to allow the organization to be a creative partner with our communities as we face the environmental and community challenges of the the next 50 years. Lee was the inaugural chair of the Islands Trust Governance committee and has many years’ experience serving on community and industry boards always with an eye to how each group can make good and inclusive decisions. He very much looks forward to working with the dedicated Trustees of the Trust Area to provide the best Governance we possibly can of this very precious and unique area of the Province.

About Mairead Boland

Born in Ireland, I qualified as a geologist. This is my first term. I enjoy the strong sense of community on Saturna and the attitude (common on all the islands) of self sufficiency and a willingness to help and support each other. I feel strongly about using data and information to guide decisions and that people who live here must continue to determine the future of their islands and their place in that. I encourage everyone to be familiar with Trust activities and decisions that will affect how we can live here.
