Islands Trust has responded to the COVID-19 pandemic by adjusting its operations to comply with provincial health officer safety guidelines and recommendations and by helping to communicate information to the public.

Islands Trust Council Approves 2021/22 Budget

Thank you to all who provided feedback on Islands Trust Council’s 2021-22 budget proposal. Trust Council received all public feedback in the March 2021 Trust Council package prior to debating and approving the budget. Your input was heard and considered carefully when we made final decisions on the budget that will guide the coming year’s work.

This year, Islands Trust is grateful to have received a record $563,000 in grants in support of Islands Trust Conservancy’s work and the Regional Freshwater Sustainability project.

The approved operating and projects budget for 2021/22 is $9,059,919.

Trust Council Chair Writes to Thank Minister for Changes to Island Coastal Economic Trust

The Islands Trust Council has been advocating with partners for the Province of BC to make the Southern Gulf Islands and Bowen Island eligible for the Island Coastal Economic Trust’s programs and funding. Success!

On April 1, 2020, the Islands Trust Council Chair wrote to thank the Honourable Ravi Kahlon, Minister of Jobs, Economic Recovery & Innovation.

30 Nature Reserves in 30 Years – The Heron Newsletter, Spring 2021

The Islands Trust Conservancy’s Spring 2021 Heron newsletter is special. It marks their 30th anniversary at the close of March – a milestone that we are proud to celebrate with you.

South Pender Island – Short-term Vacation Rental Review Project

The South Pender LTC has initiated a process to review existing Short-term Vacation Rental (STVR) policies. The first stage of the project was the adoption of Bylaw No. 117 in 2019. The second stage is reviewing the current STVR regulations in the South Pender Land Use Bylaw and to add Temporary Use Permit Guidelines for STVRs in the South Pender Official Community Plan.
