Island Profile

The Saturna Island Local Trust Area is 45% protected. It has critical habitat for the small herb, White Meconella; flowering plant, Lindley’s False Silverpuffs; and the Great Blue Heron bird. Off the east coast of Saturna is one of three temporary sanctuaries for southern resident killer whales.
