In BC, general local elections are held every four years on the third Saturday in October.
The next general local elections are October 17, 2026, and at that time, voters will elect 26 trustees across the Islands Trust Area. Elected officials serve a four-year term from November 2026 to October 2030.

Islands Trust trustees are elected in each of the 12 local trust areas, and two municipal trustees are elected for the Bowen Island Municipal Council. Being an elected trustee provides a unique opportunity to apply your experience and ideas to help preserve and protect the Islands Trust Area and its unique amenities and environment for the benefit of the residents of the Islands Trust Area and of British Columbia. Elections Administration
To ensure voter convenience and a cost-effective process, Islands Trust contracts seven regional districts and one municipality to administer the election of trustees.
Nomination Packages
The nomination period opens September 1, 2026 at 9:00 am and closes September 11, 2026 at 4:00 pm. Candidate Nomination Packages that are currently available are linked below. Please follow the instructions in the package for submitting via the relevant regional district or municipality office.

The nomination period for the 2026 general local election runs from 9:00 a.m. on September 1 to 4:00 p.m. on September 11, 2026. Election day is October 17, and the official declaration of results follows on October 21, 2026.
