Islands Trust is committed to improving accessibility and inclusion for everyone in the Islands Trust Area by identifying, removing and preventing barriers that limit access to offices and services of Islands Trust.
In 2021, the Province of BC passed the Accessible British Columbia Act. The legislation requires prescribed organizations, including Islands Trust, to establish an accessibility committee, develop an accessibility plan, and create a process for public feedback on barriers and the accessibility plan.
Accessibility Committee
The Accessibility Committee is an advisory committee made of members of the public and three trustees. It is a diverse group of people with knowledge and lived experience of accessibility and inclusion issues. You can find information about the Committee here.
Accessibility Plan
The Islands Trust Accessibility Plan represents Islands Trust’s commitment to continuous improvement on the policies and practices that impact Islands Trust Area residents, in order to remove and prevent barriers to full participation. The Accessibility Plan will be a roadmap that reflects our support for accessibility, diversity, equity and inclusion.
The Plan is currently being drafted and not yet available for public input.
