Meet Your Trustees
About LTC Chair
Tim Peterson is serving his third term as a Lasqueti Island Local Trustee, and his first as vice-chair of Trust Council. In addition, he serves as a Board member of the Lasqueti Community Association and the Lasqueti Last Resort Society. Tim is also a musician, artist, performer, event organizer, gardener, and chef, and he has lived on Lasqueti for over 45 years.
About Ben Mabberley
Ben Mabberley is in his first term as Trustee for Galiano Island. Having lived here
for over 50 years he has worked as an organic farmer, logger, fisher. He met his local Indigenous wife who came from a fishing family. Through them he was made aware of the many issues facing our local First Nations. Now semi-retired, he consults on various maritime projects such as the Oil Spill Response program, National and Pacific Harbour Authority Advisory Committee for DFO.
Maintaining the values of our rural communities and protecting them from urbanization is a priority.
About Lisa Gauvreau
Lisa Gauvreau is in her first term as Trustee for Galiano Island Local Trust Committee. She is from the traditional territory of the Ojibwe and Chippewa Nations, also known as Sault Ste Marie. As a 20-year resident, she operates a successful year-round eatery on Galiano Island with her young family in tow. She strongly advocates for common-sense governance that balances community needs and environmental responsibilities. Lisa is eager to continue the important work on the freshwater sustainability project and believes that this is a significant time for actions toward Reconciliation and the climate crisis.
