Mayne

Local trust committee community planning projects are proactive initiatives that further the preserve and protect mandate. Projects can be significant and long term, such as an Official Community Plan Review, or may be relatively minor, such as an amendment to a regulation in a Land Use Bylaw.

Groundwater Sustainability Project

This project will develop information and data as part of a phased ecological approach to groundwater management on Galiano, Mayne, North Pender, South Pender, and Saturna Islands. For more information see About this Project below.

Housing Options

This project builds upon previous work done by the Local Trust Committee in Phase 1 which facilitated  the introduction of Flexible Housing Zoning which permits additional density within a maximum combined floor area for lots within a pilot area. This zoning was one step in increasing housing options on Mayne Islands. The second phase builds upon work done in the first phase.  The project endeavours to balance the need to address housing concerns with interest related to environmental protection and protection of limited water resources.
